Kicking bundt!

I was going through my posts and found this unpublished one.  It had photos from one of our date nights last year.  He made the entree (beef brisket and mashed parsnips) and drinks (raspberry vodka), and I made dessert (a naked cream cheese bundt cake).

Good times.

Seasons changing -- TV shows, that is

It's been a couple months since my last post but work, wedding planning and frankly, laziness, have kept me away.

Now I'm back, driven by couch potato-ism and a short opportunity for quiet.

Let me start with Gossip Girl.  In the battle between Best friend VS Soulmate, it seems soulmate is destined to win.  As much as I admire Dan's love for Blair, there is no denying that Chuck is the one for her.  And in this season's finale, it looks like Blair is finally ready to fight for true love.

Blair: You said I always bet against you?
Well this time, I'm all in.

Smash is a show I was initially skeptical about but fell in love with at first viewing.  The finale - though leaving enough cliffhangers for an exciting second season - ends on a high note with Karen proving everyone wrong and showing the world that she is indeed a star.

It may not be the official finale yet, but the last two-episode special of Glee seemed like the best ending to the season -- or the show, for that matter:  They win the Nationals; Rachel is back on track towards her Broadway dream; Puck gets a another chance to graduate; Will wins the Teacher of the Year Award; and the New Direction kids have finally become accepted in McKinley High.  All is right in their world.

I have no idea how the real finale will be able to top that.

I can't wait for next fall!

When an event is extraordinary...

I love creating events.  There is an obscene amount of detail -- not to mention, actual WORK -- that goes into it, but it never feels like drudgery.  I take pleasure in going through the process of planning and minding every little thing.  But my favorite part is the storytelling.

Any event can be made beautiful.  But not all are necessarily meaningful.

Here is a particular event I absolutely adored: a wedding of a couple who met on an airplane flight.  By Events of Distinction.

When an event is extraordinary, it means it is telling a story.  And telling it well.

Snow-a-board!

Winter is almost over.  I didn't get to build a snowman.  I didn't get to shovel snow.  I didn't even get to make a snow angel.

But I did get to snowboard... Oh, yeah!

Yesterday, we went up to Mad River Mountain.  I was never the athletic type, so everybody pretty much underestimated my chances of learning snowboarding.

Boy, did I surprise everyone, myself included! I may not have been the fastest learner, but I was able to pick up the sport fairly quickly.  And I absolutely loved it.

When you're riding down a mountain of ice and snow, it's wise to have on the right gear.  I heard Burton was THE brand for the coolest snowboarders.  If and when my husband and I decide to get a wee bit more serious about the sport, we might actually consider investing in all that good stuff.

In any case, here are my personal favorites:

The End of Humphrey

Blair: Oh, Dan.
Dan: You said my name.
Blair: Dan.
Dan: Say it again.
Blair: Dan... Dan... Dan...
